Our Beginning

Since 2003, we have been providing non-formal education to the marginalized children in remote villages of Odisha state of India during weekends. Not every village in rural Odisha is served by a government sponsored school. Schools are mostly in the larger villages and due to the lack of public transportation in the remote areas between villages; village children would have to travel a great distance. Odisha state is one of the poorest states in India with 42 million population. Nearly 70 percent of Indian populations live in remote places.

Imagine School is an initiative to develop a greater awareness of their (children) worth and their opportunities, envision a future without poverty, and acquire knowledge and skills that will enable them to become contributing citizens. Our goal is to select a large group of interested students from the existing children clubs as well as children from various remote villages and provide them an English education in our school. At the same time, we realize the need to help children with special needs (developmentally delayed). Often, this group of children are neglected in the regular school system and they do not attend schools.

2016: Imagine School was founded on 10th March 2016 in Ambanali village of Balasore district, Odisha, India. In 2016, Pre-school and Kindergarten classes operated with about 40 students.

2017: Grade 1 was added to Pre-school and Kindergarten classes. Imagine School was recognized by Mass Education Department of Odisha Government.

2018-2019: Grade 2,3,4 were added as new classes and the number of total students grew up to 100. School bus, Library and Playground facilities were created for the students.

2020: Imagine School new building construction began with a goal to have 12 classrooms, offices, computer and science labs.

2021-2022: New School Building ground floor was inaugurated and the education department of Govt. of Odisha extended Certificate of Recognition (COR) from Nursery to Grade 8 till 2027.

2022-2023: New Building First Floor is under Construction and the classes upgraded to Grade 6.

2023-2024:  Construction of the New Building and Campus Continues to grow. Classes upgraded to Grade 7
